Tractors At Sunshine Herb and Lavender Farm

They will be back again this year.  Everyone always wants to know if the tractors will be back again.  Its one of our favorite things here at the farm, and by the response it generates from all of you it must be your’s too.  The keepers of ancient iron will once again be here to show off their restored work horses of years gone by.  See them here at the farm during the Lavender Faire.

Meet the New Members Of Sunshine Herb & Lavender Farm

Meet the new members of Sunshine Herb & Lavender Farm.

We had wanted to add some new members to our lavender family, so we began to do some research.  We decided we wanted to get some chickens.  We made some calls and found a very special little rooster.  When we talked to the farmer we found out just how special this little guy was.  When the farmer began to tell us about this rooster, we discovered he was having a bit of an identity crisis.  A King 5 news crew had heard about an odd adoption, and was doing a story about this little challenged bird.  They had come to film him being hatched, because you see he had been hatched by a duck.  And so he thought he was one. He began to chase the other ducks around just wanting to be part of the waddle.  So this farmer was desperate to find just the right home for him.  When we heard about this unique rooster, we thought we could give him a new home.  The farmer assured us that he was a gentle rooster; it was just that he was chasing all of her ducks, driving them nuts.  We instantly fell in love with him and decided to help him out.  Our son had said that we should also get a hen so he could chase around the right kind of bird.  We built them a little love nest.  Now all is right in his world with his gal and his lavender.

Spring Is On Its Way at Sunshine Herb & Lavender Farm

Our Lavender plants have begun to show signs of life here at the farm.  This is the second year that we have trimmed our plants right after harvest.  We are sold on doing it this way as it has increased our harvest production and sets the plant up for just what we are seeing … early plant growth.   See more on this in article “SPRING IS ON ITS WAY – Time To Get To Work” .  We have provided some practical ideas to help you set your lavender up for a great year.  Spring is busting out at Sunshine Herb & Lavender Farm - Sequim Washington

This is what your lavender should be looking like……..Sunshine
